Ride a Cockhorse manages to be both a portent of the American banking crisis and a portrayal of sleepy, small-town folk woken up by a middle-aged dynamo. Raymond Kennedy invites his readers down a rabbit hole entirely of his own making, one that is fascinating, farcical, and, above all, fiercely funny.
